Every week we will be listing a great film, TV show and short film that we love and we think you will too. Time to put the feet up, crack open a beverage and enjoy.
Issue #6
This week is all about the Oscars. From the academy award winner and French acting queen, Marion Cotillard, to a TV show packed full of gold statue holders and finishing up with an Oscar winning short film, it's all Hollywood this week.
THE MOVIE: Deux Jours, Une Nuit
Marion Cotillard won her Oscar playing Édith Piaf in La Vie En Rose but we're going to suggest a lesser known film starring the French icon, Deux Jours, Une Nuit. It's one of those powerful, simply told stories that resonates on so many levels. Much of the success of the film rests on Marion Cotillard's shoulders and she does not disappoint. A very french style film (even though it was filmed in Belgium and made my the Belgian, Dardenne brothers.)
THE TV SHOW: Big Little Lies
Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern & Meryl Streep, need we say more? Oscar royalty right there. This show focuses on the backstabbing, entitled, wealthy community of Monterey City in California. The show is adapted from the novel of the same name and as with most films and tv shows based on successful books, the story is fantastic and with the acting icons I have listed above as well as Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz, Alexander Skarsgard and Adam Scott, this is well worth your time.
THE SHORT FILM: The Neighbors' Window
The 2019 Oscar winning short film. A heartfelt, poignant story revealing how distant perceptions of others can often be quite far off the mark. Set in the cinematically perfect New York City. Watch it below...
Have a great weekend.
